Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams (1902-1984) is not only considered one of the world's foremost landscape photographers, a master of the silver print, and founding father of the photographic medium as an art form, but also an activist who played a seminal role in the growth of an environmental consciousness. Known especially for his images of Yosemite, Adams joined photographers Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans in their commitment to affect social and political change through art. Adams' work is held in the collections of major museums and galleries around the world.
