Lora Webb Nichols

Lora Webb Nichols was an American photographer (b. 1883) who received her first camera at the age of 16. A mother, a photographer, and an entrepreneur, Nichols not only ran the photography studio in her tiny town of Encampment, Wyoming but also its soda fountain. Her stunning photographs of the townspeople during the copper boom are remarkable for their intimacy. Nichols' work was rediscovered by the photographer and curator Nicole Jean Hill, and in 2020 Hill published the gorgeous book, “Encampment, Wyoming.” Hill has just published a second book of Nichols’ work titled “Heap-O-Livin"
