Mario Carnicelli
Mario Carnicelli is an Italian photographer. In 1966, he left his small Tuscan town and traveled to the United States. What he saw fascinated him—and shocked him. In New York City, Detroit, Washington, Dallas, and Los Angeles, he produced hundreds of stunning images that capture (and, in some cases, puncture) the American Dream. Those pictures were filed away in his basement for 40 years…until they were rediscovered. A book of Carnicelli’s photos, “American Voyage,” was published in 2018 to sparkling reviews. In 2022, Carnicelli received a lifetime achievement award from Prix Viviane Esders.
