Pierre Crocquet
Pierre Crocquet grew up in Klerksdorp, two hours outside of
Johannesburg. As a young man, he gave up a promising job in finance to follow his passion for photography. Pierre published five acclaimed books including “Enter/Exit,” which focused on the tiny, rural settlement of Karatara and its residents who seemed somehow lost in time—a trait that Pierre’s pictures captured with great sensitivity. He was killed in 2013, at the age of 42, by a hit-and-run driver. Today, Pierre’s sister Jeannine manages his incredible archive.
