Sharon Smith

Sharon Smith is a New York City-based photographer and filmmaker known for her Polaroid portraits capturing 1980s NYC nightlife. Starting with studies of Coney Island in the late 1970s, she later photographed icons including David Bowie and Madonna at clubs like the Ritz and Studio 54. Those photographs were included in Sharon's 2024 book "Camera Girl." Her work has appeared in major museums, including the Victoria & Albert and the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2015, she directed the award-winning documentary "Saturn Saved Me" about astrology in India.
